14/11/05 Web Usability Engineering

I have been using Writely.com this year to organise and deliver my final year assignments for my Digital Media Engineering course at DCU. Writely is an online word processor with the basic functionality needed, the added bonus of group collaboration, online publishing and anywhere access via the web.
Tonight I did a marathon session on my Web Usability Engineering assignment completing most of the required ‘Usability Evaluation’ chapter of the submission. We must choose an Irish web site and complete this report on their usability & accessibility and perform subject tests with real users by setting them goals to achieve on the target website and monitoring their progress throughout the task.
I have chosen the site IrishRail.ie as my target site, and you may follow my progression by clicking View Document (Warning: Work in Progress!). If you would like to be a test subject for the user evaluation section i’m about to start, let me know and you can be my guinea pig!

Funny - I chose the exact same site for pretty much the same assignment that I did in college about four years ago. Can’t say it seems to have changed much in the meantime!
