19/01/06 Assessment Day in London, UK

I applied to the Reuters Technology Programme with my resume before Christmas and received word that I’ve been accepted through to the assessment stage. Hence I am off to London on Feb 7th-8th to partake in an intensive looking day of physcometric tests, interviews & group tasks. The programme seems amazing, and when asked if I was nervous by people, my answer was it’s more excitement.
Rather than following a prescriptive programme you will undertake a flexible framework of training and placements; a core programme of interpersonal and business skills and the training and development necessary for each of your placements. [...] Over 2 years you will typically undertake four project placements of six months interspersed with both technical and business skills training. These placements will be in different technical groups across Reuters. [...] Graduates who complete the programme successfully will have a number of options including project/programme management, specialising in particular areas of technology, or in time becoming the future senior management of the company.
Should I fit the role, this adventure will begin in London from September ‘06.
London has 324,000 IT professionals and 680,000 work in the knowledge-driven industries. More than 65% of the Fortune Global 500 companies are represented in London. Then there is the quality of life and vibrant culture of London. Mostly young, creative, ‘dotcom’ professionals enjoy London’s media scene, wealth of entertainment and dynamic 24-hour lifestyle.
I have Tuesday the 7th afternoon & evening in London by myself and would be very keen to hear of any suggestions for some really geek-esque things to do. Considering I’ve done most of the touristy things already last February with Aoife I’d be interested to where anyone who reads this thinks the best spots are to go? (comments by email or below!)

Did you speak to any of the presenters and get any tips from the presentation at the DCU Hub?
I’ve applied for the Business scheme.
Best of Luck
