22/03/07 Thanks Tom! - Dealers of Lightning
I got a surprise today, an Amazon parcel arrived by courier! Tom Kendall, my ‘Tech Mentor’ and Transition Year mathematics teacher had given me a little clue to what I might get:
If you haven’t read it, you’re not going to believe how much technology that you use today came out of the place. That’s all I’m going to say!
I unwrapped it.
Well, this is perfect Tom… thanks a million. I’m really looking forward to reading ‘Dealers of Lightning’, having just finished iWoz which is of the same era, and with a cousin working as a researcher in PARC (Palo Alto Research Center) it’s a superb fit!
Cheers! Will post a review on completion (expect it to take a while - man it’s a thick one!).

[...] Rowan sent me on a link to MTBGuru, the work of a friend of his at PARC (Palo Alto Research Centre). This site is for Runners, Mountain Bikers, Road Cyclists, Hikers, Skiers & Mountaineers! You could consider the MTBGuru website as a worldwide directory of outdoor trips or rides; you can create your own trips and/or browse existing ones. A trip has its own page associated to it and contains all kinds of information on that trip, such as distance, elevation gain etcetera. It will be drawn as a track on a map. Photos taken during the trip can be uploaded and are automatically attached to the point on the map where they were shot. [...]
