19/04/07 Effective Meetings Training
I sat on a full day training course on Tuesday, titled “Effective Meetings”. We learnt about team decisions, making people feel interesting and spurring them to keep on talking.
Here’s an interesting fact from the day: The mind goes at 500 words per minute, the voice at 150-200wpm. This means you have ~350wpm to play with in your head at any point while listening to someone during a meeting.
Hence we were encouraged to fiddle with something like the big pile of lego that was poured onto our tables while someone was speaking! I built this rather complex leaning tower equipped with interlocking helix curves at the top… pictured above!
Reflecting on this technique, me bringing a bucket of lego to my next senior management meeting and asking them to play with it might be considered a CLM!
