LONDON, UK - This is post is directed to all Irish final year students. I graduated from DCU ‘Digital Media Engineering’ one year ago next month. At the same time, I started straight into the Reuters Graduate Scheme in Canary Wharf, London. Do not underestimate this programme.

Applications are now open, and there’s a new website launched for the 2008 intake. I can not personally recommend this opportunity enough, and encourage anyone studying Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Maths or any other technical course, especially the folk at DCU (there’s 3 of us already here!) to apply. I’ve still a year to go. It’s based in Singapore for 6 months. Need I say more?

What is this Technical Graduate Scheme? The idea was a bit foreign to me when I heard of it first in the DCU bar.

The Technology Graduate programme is designed to develop the future leaders of technology at Reuters. It prepares you for a career working to build and enhance the innovative and fast-changing technologies that we use to keep our competitive edge.

During the two-year programme, you will attend two 10-month placements within Development & Operations. The remaining time on the programme is supplemented with extensive training and short, sharp assignments in client-facing departments (often outside technology) to give you a wider understanding of our business and clients.

Formal training consists of approximately 40 days over the 2 years on the scheme. One of your 10-month placements will consist of six months based in a location outside the UK. Examples include: New York, St Louis, Geneva, Gdansk, Bangalore, Beijing, Bangkok and Singapore.

I am more than happy to help advise any Irish students on their entry. Please contact me directly, or pass my contact on to a potential applicant.

Applications are now open
, please don’t leave it late and don’t miss this opportunity.
