12/10/07 Is A Jacket, Half A Suit?

LONDON, UK - This pains me so much I thought it worth sharing. I’m flying to Bangkok with work at the end of the month, so I thought it time to drop my suit into our ‘corporate’ drycleaners for a scrub. Happy me, discovers they’ve a 2 suits for the price of 1 offer running.
Now, maybe surprisingly I only own 1 ‘business’ suit (soon to change!) and a few jackets. So I think to myself, I’ll give them a suit & a half (one 2 piece suit & a jacket), sure they’ll be happy it’s one less garment for them. Apparently not. I just got a phone-call to say a 1 piece jacket wasn’t a 2 piece suit and therefore not available under the offer. I would be required to pay separately for it.
Is a jacket, half a suit?

Ask them to clean the suit trousers twice.
I like Andy’s idea. :)
I am in the happy position of not having to wear a suit for work, ever, so I don’t own any. Long may this continue to be the case. :)
Could you check out oriental tailors when you’re in that part of the world and see if anyone will make (1) flightsuits and (2) patches from sketches. Much obliged.
On my cycle home - I decided that I would come in and delete this post. It was a silly rant, a spur of the moment rant. It was not even related to Digital Media. It was rubbish. I was going to apologies to you all for wasting your time.
Then I saw your comments. More than I get if I announce something big. So maybe I’m the one in the wrong - this is what you want.
Andy - your comment is fantastic. I’m going to ask them to do that when I go to collect. love it. cheers.
I would follow the whispers from your intelligent followers. A couple of years ago, I made a valiant attempt to cull content from my blog that was not directly related to my technology column. Then readers started getting upset that I lost my voice. So I let the personal stuff trickle onto the pages. The total validation came when a government minister told me something about my little girl that he would only have seen on my blog. He pays to read my stuff through an aggregator and confided that the soft and fluffy things helped him form a better judgment. I just try to keep things balanced now, without trying to be write only about technology’s effects on culture.
back from Asia - and I didn’t even wear the suit once!
Mind you - out in Asia I did get a tailor made suit jacket, 2 pairs of trousers & 3 shirts. All made from a flat roll of material! nice.
