20/10/07 Facebook Debate & MiniBar London
LONDON, UK - What a busy week and a great Irish presence in London! On Wednesday night Damien Mulley, Paul Campbell and Aido were over for the Great Facebook Debate. The ‘Irish 2.0 Mafia’ as we’re starting to become known over here also included the host of the evening Paul Walsh.
The Event was Live Streamed in a webcast, and I must say, the debate I was following on my Jaiku was as good as the live auditorium. They should of had a backchannel that people viewing only the stream could add to. You can watch the recording of the video here. You might even get to see me ask my question and getting a response on mic from JP Rangaswami (blog) the Chief Information Officer of BT!
I enjoyed asking a question actually. Most of the time I just sit an watch at these ‘on-stage’ events and let others do the questioning, but it was great to participate in the discussion. Thanks to the few people afterwards who said they enjoyed my contribution, I must do it more!
NewsPepper.com was filming interviews at the event, and best of luck to Hermione on her NewsPepper initiative. Good to eventually meet @gino128 aka Paul Fabretti who won 1st class flights to NYC on the night. I also put a few names to people I’d seen at other events and got the chance to speak with them, which is always great.
Friday night was MiniBar(Camp) London with Charlie & Emma. MiniBar London is a monthly event with a free bar for technology entrepreneurs to come and mix. Last night each of the SeedCamp winners gave a pitch. It was great to speak with them after about their experience so far, I was especially excited to hear from Andraz Tori ofZemanta that the 6 of them (Slovenian) have used their SeedCamp funding to rent a house that they work & live in together! The nights working late must be a huge amount of fun! Also must mention Dale from Project Playfair (now HyperNumbers), this is my pick of the SeedCamp winners as the one with the most potential. It’s an absolutely fantastic, simple idea. We had met at the SeedCamp finalists party, and it was good to catch-up.

Great to meet you Robin, and to find out that you’re not old and American. Updated my blog today — was a bit of a rollercoaster night and week pour moi. But definitely must catch up soon, though it’ll be the new year. Best of luck with tech, and learning Mandarin ( something I hope to follow you in soon! )
