01/12/07 What emotions do these invoke?
LONDON, UK - To me I think of all the excitement in that I could simply just recreate them. They were all static HTML, 128 colours, no fancy AJAX, no big databases - just easy stuff. I still get a buzz looking at the Yahoo logo as I modelled my very first ‘image map’ navigation bar on it back in ‘96/’97. The site was done in ‘Coral Word Perfect’ as it had a new “Save as HTML” option - a couple of updates later, and the adoption of a truly awful name “Internet Intellect”, Doras gave me 4 Shamrocks!

To all of us, these screen-shots look ancient, times long gone, nearly antiques to me - they are certainly ‘History’ I feel I was part of. But, just as people scale differently, so do objects… would you believe the Toyota Yaris came out the same year as all these screenshots (I spotted it advertised in a banner ad on one!) yet, I still think of the Yaris as a modern new car. Amazing.
