31/01/08 CV For Tech: Industry Awards

Petronas Towers At Night

SINGAPORE - Part IV (see all parts). While I had reservations about including them as I was U18 at the time, I was recommended to leave them in as a differentiating and memorable factor about my CV. While everyone has high-school exam results, not everybody has international awards showing their industry interest from an early age. Not to mention winning an U21 award at age 16 :-)

This section wasn’t dramatically changed, mainly a reduction of 33% of the text, leaving them as talking points for an interview.

NEW

INDUSTRY AWARDS

iFairground - Interactive website looking into the science, business & history of the fairground. Developed over 12 months with two North American students using online communication only.

  • Silver Award, 2000 ThinkQuest International Internet Challenge. Geneva, Switzerland.
  • 1st Place, 2000 Irish Young Persons Award - Golden Spiders. Dublin, Ireland.

Mission: Possible - A youth led environmental campaign on the internet, weaving waste management into an elaborate empowerment message to save Special Agent E.N.Vironment. Gained large Irish celebrity backing including an opening message from Bono, U2.

  • 1st Place, 2000 Cable & Wireless International Childnet Awards. Bridgetown, Barbados.
  • 1st Place, 1999 Irish Young Persons Award - Golden Spiders. Dublin, Ireland.

Next up is ‘Part V’, INTERESTS & ACHIEVEMENTS.
