03/04/08 Network Building: Nurturing Your Network
SINGAPORE - Once built out, it is important to tag, sort & chart your contacts network. Do this to fill in the gaps.
It isn’t just what you know, and it isn’t just who you know. It’s actually who you know, who knows you & what you do for a living. — Bob Burg
Ask yourself…
- What regions/time-zones am I not connected in?
- What skills are missing from my network?
- What knowledge is not available to me?
But most importantly…
Do I have connections where I want to be?
To succeed, you must already have strong leads in your future role, company or industry before you need them.
Regularly review your network. Rank them on connected-ness. Keep in touch with everyone just to say ‘hi’, think of it like spinning plates - you must keep them on the slow boiler until you need them one day.
