03/06/08 Chicago Day 1: Out The Home Office Window

Chicago Apartment View

Chicago Apartment View

CHICAGO, UNITED STATES - This time last year I started a meme about posting the view from your desk out your office window. I thought I’d won with the view of the Thames, but it turns out my new home-office in Chicago beats it! Certainly for levels of towering reflective glass but maybe not for tranquillity! My Singapore office had no windows (mind you, it would have only looked out into a jungle of palm trees!). No complaints yet from the 30th floor vista here in the windy city.

Here’s a little more on ‘decisions for heroes‘…

The mantra is simple, “to help emergency services save lives by making better decisions”. CORE is the foundation for this unique task, collecting, storing, and providing intelligent information to add-on services as they continue to become available.

Throughout June 2008, CORE will run as in an invite-only trial with a selection of rescue teams. SHOUT, an intelligent SMS alerting tool building on CORE data will follow shortly along with CORE API, an ‘Application Programming Interface’. CORE API will give third party software and hardware developers the ability to create tools that leverage CORE data for the emergency services community.

Now, get your cameraphone out and post your office window view to your blog or Flickr. Link it here.

-Robin.

The view from your new home office is cool but I think I prefer the ‘green’ vista of my own home office!

Is it cloudy up there? ;-)

I hope you never have to climb the stairs!

Having worked on the ‘999′ service many years ago and called on them for help a few times, I am intrigued by your venture.

Awesome!

Does this help at all?
It’s just outside my office window…

Congratulations on the move - I look forward to hearing more about the venture (our Rope Rescue certification continues moving on throughout the team…)

Wow - not bad Steve! A little more tranquil alright!

Your ‘decisions for heroes’ test account is coming within a week or so.

Great idea Robin, looking forward to hearing more about it. Definitely niche, and definitely interesting!

Helping to save people’s lives has to be one of the most altruistic and rewarding things you can do. And if it can be done with a web app, then sounds like you’ve found the perfect way to mix (from what I can tell) the two great interests in your life. Nice one!

As for the office view, I’ve only got a diffused skylight above my head - not a window in sight :(
