01/07/08 Push PutPlace. Push Ireland.

Chicago Scenes

CHICAGO, UNITED STATES - I met up with Joe Drumgoole in Singapore, and had a great chat about PutPlace. It’s very simple - the idea is to backup all your files across all your devices in the cloud. Each file is tracked so it only exists once in the backup no matter how many of your devices store it. Right now, I am not confident about Flickr as a backup of my photos - I’d happily give PutPlace my subscription fee if they can guarantee their safety. There is currently an open beta, so sign-up and copy across your Flickr originals (it does it automatically!). Mac client is on the way too. Today you’ll hear lots about this service as this post was done as PutPlace is featured as Push Tuesday this fortnight.

Every second Tuesday, a startup is selected from those who put themselves forward and lots of us blog about them on the same day.

Damien has got the ball rolling, but I had this post coming. See that little Irish flag beside my name in the blog header?… I’m proud to say I’m part of the Irish web community - even though I have not been resident there for 2 years.

We need to start this chant. This whispered chant. “Ireland… Ireland… Ireland…” hushing along in the back of the digital media industry. I’m currently looking at some form of badge, tagline or method of doing it - Push Tuesday is a great start.

-Robin.

Hi Robin,

Thanks for your support. Much appreciated. Pints are in order when you get back to the old country.

Joe.
