06/09/08 Some Browser Emotions

Exciting. Any information available to me. Dial-up noise. Directories. Yahoo. Altavista. Serif Fonts. GIF animations. Animated page loading N icon. Frames. Image place-holders. Learning HTML. Hitting refresh a lot. Send & Receive button. The world was mine to go get.
With Google Chrome out, I thought it worth remembering back to my first browser.
What emotions does do those splash screens bring out for you?
-Robin.

None of those things are “emotions”. Moron.
That icon with the ship’s wheel (helm?) is particularly nostalgic for me because, indeed, it does remind me of the exciting emotions I felt at navigating the oceans of information now available from my living room PC, a truly new frontier.
I see that and I can actually catch the smell of the autoclave in the lab and I remember the excitement of discovering Pedro’s Biomolecular Research Tools.
;-) I remember it feeling like by far the most powerful app on the machine. And having my stop watch beside me to know when to disconnect before the next 3 minute billing interval ;-)

Tried to comment a second ago but it didn’t appear, possibly because all I had was a url. I assume you prefer comments here than on Facebook.
Sorry BBrian - it is cached to static pages due to server strain, so there’s a slight delay in comments. thanks for the link :-)
