13/09/08 The Ultimate Elevator Pitch Test
DUBLIN, IRELAND - I know some of you will love this one. So, we’re in the pub last night and one of the guys who works for 11850 announces they have a new SMS service that is free while they launch it. You can text them any question and they’ll answer it (no-doubt using Google) with an SMS. So the nights entertainment began as the group got texting in-between sipping pints of Guinness “Who is more attractive, Obama or McCain?”, “Which these 2 addresses is posher place to live?…”, “Who’d win in a fight, Jesus or Moses”. And laughter ensued as the answers came in and the questions got more & more personal.
It wasn’t until I heard that the people answering us were a team waiting for our questions in Manilla was I seriously intrigued. Had I got my business message right? Could a person in the Philippines not only find but also summarise my new business into 160 characters for me?
I got out my phone and texted 11850:
What is “Decisions For Heroes”.
Beep Beep. Beep Beep.
It is a collaborative rescue team management tool to record and analyze rescue operations. Thanks.
Bingo. Job Done!
How cool is that! Got a start-up? Try it - ask them what you do - post it on your blog, it’s free.

BONUS EXTRA: Hi, nice people from 11850, once I publish this post I’m going to sms you this URL and ask you what you think of it. Kind of a fun game for both of us. I’ll publish your answer here :-)
